At Huawei Big Data, I worked on Apache Spark and Apache Iceberg forks, contributing SQL features merged into the engine, primary-key merge-engine support, and a custom Spark cluster manager in Scala.
On the Iceberg team, I implemented Spark SQL column DEFAULT values for Iceberg tables across the Spark–Iceberg integration, with 168 tests passing across four catalog implementations. I also contributed a vectorized Parquet read fix and a Flink SQL proof of concept for streaming row-level changelog events from Iceberg upsert tables.
Before Huawei Big Data, I owned the notification domain at Atlassian — Opsgenie, supporting near-real-time delivery of on-call alerts and taking production on-call responsibility. I designed the distributed on-call event calculation and notification pipeline and migrated the scheduling domain from the monolith to a microservice.
At MilSOFT Software Technologies, I initiated and led a Java Swing/JavaFX test-and-debug tool that was adopted internally and sold externally. Earlier, I worked on integration middleware, an Apache httpd module, Eclipse RCP, and .NET medical imaging software.
