Merahi Kefyalew

I've led quality enhancement, strategic planning, and monitoring and evaluation at Addis Ababa University’s College of Health Sciences while serving as an assistant professor in emergency and critical care medicine. My work includes national clinical guideline development for Ethiopia’s Federal Ministry of Health and a quality-improvement initiative that reduced emergency department length of stay for hematology patients.

I've directed continuing professional development programs for physicians, nurses, and allied health staff, including national COVID-19 Training-of-Trainers rollouts with the Ethiopian Medical Association, Federal Ministry of Health, and WHO. I teach and supervise learners across emergency medicine, critical care, nursing, and medical education, and have advised more than 20 MSc and residency theses.

As an MPH-trained DrPH scholar and postdoctoral scholar in implementation science, I bring 15+ years of emergency and critical care practice, health-system improvement, and research experience. I've authored 30+ peer-reviewed publications and work effectively with distributed, multi-institution teams across time zones.
