Seth Draper

I am a mechanical design engineer with 15+ years of engineering experience in mechanical design, CAD, prototyping, fabrication, testing, and equipment development. My background combines hands-on manufacturing experience with engineering design and problem solving.

At the University of Nevada, Reno, I design and develop mechanical systems and experimental hardware for engineering research and laboratory instruction. My work includes CAD modeling, manufacturing drawings, bills of materials, machining, welding, additive manufacturing, assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and equipment modification.

My projects have included reverse engineering and improving wind tunnels, designing wind-tunnel instrumentation, developing heat-transfer test equipment, and redesigning a vacuum polymer degassing system that reduced processing time from approximately 90 minutes to 10–15 minutes. I also designed and constructed a modular Class 10,000 cleanroom for polymer processing.

Earlier in my career, I designed stainless steel and sheet-metal products at Kloppenberg & Co., producing CAD models, fabrication drawings, and manufacturing documentation. At Smith's Power, I designed RF, DC, and AC surge-protection systems and developed prototype mechanical assemblies.

My experience includes SolidWorks, Solid Edge, Pro/ENGINEER, AutoCAD Inventor, AutoCAD, GD&T, CAM/CNC, machining, welding, reverse engineering, LabVIEW, and design for manufacturing. I am particularly interested in mechanical design, CAD, product development, equipment design, and engineering roles where I can apply both design and practical manufacturing experience.
