Matthew Groff

Full-stack software engineer 10+ years experience primarily owning delivery of backend systems in cloud-native environments. I’ve utilized event-driven microservices, scalable data access layers, and various cloud systems (AWS, Azure, GCP) to deliver scalable, performant applications. With a wide breadth of experience in many different languages, I'm able to jump into teams quickly and provide value.

Some of my biggest accomplishments include:

• Modernizing the ui and control platforms on Matrix ‘s .net-based exercise equipment at Johnson health tech to utilize a fraction of the space and memory, resulting in a more responsive and pleasant user experience.

• Reverse Engineering the VA database in mumps to remap the data into a MySQL database at Trinisys utilizing a pipeline focused around an FTP server to allow extraction while staying within compliance.

• Built out the UI and a significant portion of the API and Database for a Claim Adjudication system at Optum (United Health Group), and providing significant contributions out our java processor pipeline to manage claim ingestion. The successes here ultimately leading to promotions to management for that team, and ultimately future management roles.

• Modernization of Flint Hills Resources (Koch) AI/ML Pipelines to deliver better linear regressions in a fraction of the time, with turnarounds going from 6 months to 6-8 weeks.

• Cleanup and Rearchitecting of reporting data pipelines at Hologram from an airflow to redshift pipeline to a more modernized kafka+fivetran to snowflake pipeline that results in more accurate information, consistent data quality, and faster reports.

My interests in the tech tend focus on hardware or full-stack work. While I enjoy technical leadership as a mentor and collaborator, I try to steer away from management roles. For industries, I am most passionate any work that goes into scientific research, space and aeronautics, or biotechnology.
