At Medstar Washington Hospital Center, I deliver intraoperative nursing care and work in both circulating and scrub roles. I support surgical services including trauma, vascular, general, and neurosurgery.
I manage room setup, equipment checks, and instrument and sponge counts, while documenting intraoperative care, medications, and patient outcomes. I also provide preoperative education and assessments.
As relief Control Desk Coordinator, I assign OR teams to rooms and coordinate schedules with the anesthesiologist in charge. I also precept nursing students, new graduate nurses, and orienting nurses.
At the Food and Drug Administration's Center of Devices and Radiological Health, I designed and developed a tracking system for medical device shortages and manufacturers seeking U.S. market entry. I also conducted audits of international medical device companies and presented an evidence-based OR handoff improvement project at Sigma Nursing's 48th Biennial Convention.
