Marthinus Dekker
@marthinusdekker
Mechanical Engineering graduate skilled in FEA/CFD, prototype testing, and data-driven optimization for real-world designs.
What I'm looking for
I’m a Mechanical Engineering graduate with a rigorous foundation in applied mechanics, thermodynamics, and fluid systems. I’m motivated to strengthen my engineering capability in multidisciplinary design and to turn complex theory into practical, effective solutions.
In my Engineering Internship at ENGCONOMICS, I evaluated an agricultural implement prototype for structural soundness and performance optimisation. I completed extended physical testing while iteratively modifying the design, and used Finite Element Analysis validated by strain gauge testing to finish stress analysis.
I also collaborated closely with senior engineers on critical design modifications and testing procedures, while independently managing project timelines and coordinating workshop access to avoid disruption. I gained additional exposure to an advanced machine-learning-based solution for a large-scale client.
Earlier, at WATER 2000, I supported senior engineers across active client projects and took ownership of irrigation design lifecycles. I engineered custom pressurised water distribution layouts, performed GNSS RTK geospatial land surveying, created material quotes and bills of quantities, and supported maintenance work to sustain long-term operational reliability.
Experience
Work history, roles, and key accomplishments
Engineering Intern: Prototype Testing
Engconomics
Dec 2025 - Feb 2026 (2 months)
Evaluated and optimised a prototype agricultural implement by conducting extended physical prototype testing and continuous design modifications. Performed finite element analysis validated by strain gauge testing, and coordinated testing schedules and workshop access with senior engineers.
Engineering Intern: Project Delivery
Water 2000
Jan 2025 - Feb 2025 (1 month)
Supported senior engineers across active irrigation projects, integrating into the firm’s engineering workflows and independently executing client workflows once upskilled. Managed end-to-end irrigation design lifecycles, including GNSS RTK surveying, hydraulic layout engineering, and preparation of material quotes and bills of quantities.
