Lydiah Okindo

I am a Resourceful and dependable Spatial Planning and Design Specialist with a strong foundation in urban planning, GIS and Remote Sensing, and sustainable land use management. I bring a balanced mix of technical expertise, analytical skills, and creative problem-solving, strengthened by hands-on planning work at county level.

During my internship at Nairobi City County Government, I supported real planning and design processes through a mix of technical and administrative responsibilities. I reviewed subdivision applications for compliance with planning guidelines and land use regulations, applied GIS tools to prepare spatial datasets and update land records, and helped design urban street layouts.

I also supported senior planners by compiling datasets, drafting layouts, and contributing to urban masterplan preparation. To improve planning outputs, I analysed planning manuals and policy documents—summarising key provisions and identifying gaps for improvement.

I enjoy collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and producing clear reports and briefs that strengthen documentation and professional communication. I’m passionate about leveraging spatial planning tools to drive sustainable urban growth, optimise land use, and support clean energy transitions in inclusive development.
