Lillian Nowak
@lilliannowak
Biology researcher focused on neuro/behavioral experiments, immunohistochemistry, and rigorous data analysis.
What I'm looking for
I’m a Biology student who enjoys turning careful lab work into clear, defensible results. I’ve built a strong foundation through my B.S. in Biology from the University at Albany, graduating “Summa Cum Laude” with a “GPA: 3.77” and making the “Dean’s List” (2023–2025).
At Albany Medical College—Department of Neuroscience and Experimental Therapeutics—I supported research activities centered on brain tissue preparation and behavioral outcomes. I prepared and mounted mouse brain tissue for immunohistochemistry analysis, performed PCR procedures with precision pipetting, and handled rodents, including injections and tissue dissections. I also conducted behavioral coding and vaginal cytology tracking for adolescent morphine exposure studies, and assisted with animal surgeries including hormone capsule implantation.
In field-based research, I completed an independent project through the Stony Brook University “Summer in Madagascar” program. I conducted a behavioral research study examining Golden Bamboo Lemur stress behaviors associated with tourism, using group scan sampling to document behavioral changes throughout the day. I also presented my findings in an oral presentation at Centre Val Bio and assisted faculty with genetics laboratory research involving pipetting and purity analysis.
I bring a “hands-on” and collaborative mindset to every project, backed by leadership and communication experience. As a University at Albany Learning Commons Chemistry Tutor, I led weekly tutoring for groups of 5–15 students, prepared worksheets, guided problem-solving activities, and ran large-scale exam review sessions for 70–100 students. My work has been recognized through a “Best Poster Award” (UAlbany Undergraduate Research Symposium, 2025) and presentations including Society for Neuroscience (2025) and Centre Val Bio (2025).
