Kushang Patel

I'm a hands-on engineering leader based in Mumbai, with 15 years in software engineering and 8 years of direct line management. I've worked fully remote since 2020, leading distributed teams across time zones. Most of my recent work is applied AI. I author and maintain AIForge, an open-source Python SDK published on PyPI for building AI product features: RAG with hybrid retrieval and reranking, agentic workflows on LangGraph, MCP tool integration, PII and prompt-injection guardrails, an evaluation framework that gates CI, and per-call cost tracking. I use Claude Code daily, and I designed and ran an AI enablement programme for an engineering team, defining the review standards that make AI-generated code safe to merge. At Tricon Infotech I manage two engineering teams totalling 10 engineers, owning delivery, hiring, people development and backend architecture for large-scale digital publishing platforms used by global enterprise customers. I replaced high-cost third-party systems with in-house platforms, cutting infrastructure and licensing spend by over 80%, and drove over 25% client revenue growth through performance and modernisation work. Earlier I led a team of 10 at Delivery Solutions building an omnichannel fulfilment platform for enterprise US retailers including Sephora, GameStop and Victoria's Secret, where reliability across high-volume carrier integrations decided whether a delivery promise held. Before that I was a core engineer on Biz Analyst, a mobile product for Tally ERP users now trusted by 150,000+ businesses and later acquired by Khatabook. I work primarily in Python and Node.js/TypeScript, with Java and Go in the mix, on AWS and PostgreSQL. I can offer a full working-day overlap with Europe and up to five hours with US Eastern.
