Venkata Koulini Garimella

I’m a PhD candidate at IIT Madras (2021–2026), focused on PFAS investigation—especially how these “forever chemicals” affect development and toxicity in living systems. Through my Prime Minister Research Centre for Urbanization Building and Environment (CUBE) fellowship, I work at the intersection of rigorous environmental science and actionable degradation strategies.

My research has translated into peer-reviewed publications on in-vivo toxicity assessment using zebrafish embryos and on practical remediation approaches such as electro-peroxone and adsorptive photocatalysis. I’m motivated by methods that move beyond measurement—toward solutions that can be deployed for real water/wastewater contexts.

Before research, I built hands-on engineering expertise as a Senior Design Engineer (Process-Wastewater) and contributed to process design for STP/ETP/WTP, technical drawing preparation, vendor coordination, and ISO documentation. I bring a detail-driven, team-oriented mindset—combining technical reporting and project management to deliver outcomes on time and with audit-ready compliance.
