Karlien Heyns

I am a dedicated LCA Engineer with a strong focus on sustainability and carbon emissions. Over the past three years at Blue North Sustainability, I have led the science-based targets workstream, where I successfully scoped and calculated greenhouse gas emissions for both South African and international clients in the agriculture sector. My role involved not only technical analysis but also client engagement through workshops aimed at training clients on carbon footprinting, ensuring they are well-equipped to embark on their emission reduction journeys.

My academic background includes a BEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and an MEng in Industrial Engineering, both from Stellenbosch University, where I graduated Cum Laude. My master's thesis and various projects have honed my research abilities, particularly in life cycle assessments and carbon footprint analyses. I am passionate about applying my engineering skills to promote sustainability in the agricultural sector, and I am committed to fostering a more sustainable future through innovative solutions.
