Juliana Guillen

I’m a Chemical Engineering student based in Costa Rica, building my career through high-precision, regulated laboratory work and hands-on research. I’m highly committed, proactive, and organized, and I enjoy turning engineering principles into practical quality and process outcomes.

In my Research Assistant role at Centro de Investigación en Contaminación Ambiental (CICA), I performed gas chromatography on 25+ monthly drinking water samples. I processed data with Microsoft Excel and R-Studio, supported technical reporting, and helped ensure compliance with Costa Rican regulations, EPA, and WHO guidelines for THM concentrations.

I also strengthen process control through instrument calibration and technical documentation, and I led a 5-member team on sampling methodologies, standard operating procedures, equipment use, and quality documentation. In parallel, as a Chemical Laboratory Assistant at Laboratorio de Tratamiento de Residuos UCR (LTR), I managed the classification, treatment, and traceability of 500+ hazardous chemical reagents while ensuring laboratory safety and environmental compliance.

I’m especially motivated by continuous improvement—researching and developing optimized hazardous waste treatment processes with a 10+ member team while streamlining inventory control and treatment records. Outside the lab, I lead multidisciplinary community outreach and contribute to educational and biomedical-focused research projects.
