Data Analyst transitioning to Analytics Engineering, building dbt+BigQuery models that improve operational decisions.

What I'm looking for

I’m looking for a remote-first Analytics Engineer role where understanding what the data means operationally matters as much as modeling—building reliable dbt marts and dashboards with strong data quality and CI/CD.

I’m a Data Analyst with 2 years of experience turning complex datasets into dashboards and decisions—first supporting a $1B+ federal healthcare budget at the VA, then building HR reporting pipelines on UKG Pro and iCIMS data at ENFRA.

At the VA, my analytics work supported CFO-facing models and dashboards that helped identify $15M+ in performance gains and savings. I also rebuilt reporting pipelines across SQL Server, Access, Excel, and SharePoint, cutting the month-end reporting cycle by 30% and eliminating manual handoffs across 10+ cost centers.

Now transitioning into Analytics Engineering, I built a production-style dbt + BigQuery portfolio pipeline covering headcount, attrition, recruiting, and comp equity. I modeled UKG Pro and iCIMS exports (~38K rows) across staging → intermediate → mart layers with incremental materialization, dbt tests, and automated CI/CD on every pull request.

I care deeply about operational meaning and data quality—handling real-world issues like 47 department name variants, multi-currency normalization, and cross-system ID mismatches. I want an Analytics Engineering role where what the data means in practice is as valuable as how I model it.
