I’m a Backend Software Engineer with 3 years’ experience designing and operating high-availability, event-driven systems at scale in financial services. I specialise in Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, and AWS, with a focus on measurable performance improvements and production reliability.

At Discover Financial Services, I designed and delivered an enterprise-wide Kafka messaging microservice handling ~1,000,000 events/day across 4 business domains. By migrating from daily batch processing to real-time streaming, I reduced message latency from 24 hours to near real-time.

I containerised and deployed services to OpenShift as part of a platform modernisation programme, improving deployment consistency and enabling scalable, repeatable releases. I also eliminated 100% of overdue security vulnerabilities (95 → 0, 2025–2026) through proactive dependency upgrades, remediation planning, and systematic application deployments.

I owned production support across 15 domain services in a 24/7 environment—triaging live alerts, tuning alerting thresholds, and maintaining service reliability. I built Jenkins CI/CD pipelines to OpenShift with SonarQube and Spotless quality gates, and I established a layered testing approach (JUnit, Cucumber, Gatling) to reduce regression risk.
