Joel Fats
@joelfats
Statistics educator and quantitative researcher specializing in financial modeling, time series, and advanced data science.
What I'm looking for
I am a statistics educator and quantitative researcher with a strong foundation in mathematical statistics and years of classroom and tutoring experience. I have balanced teaching duties with applied research and advanced study in statistical modeling.
My research focuses on limit order book modeling and extreme value theory combined with stochastic processes; my MCom thesis and Hons project developed new approaches to time-series outlier detection and share-price prediction. I use simulation and quantitative investing techniques to translate statistical theory into actionable financial models.
I bring advanced technical skills in Python, Java, R, SQL and LaTeX, and I have a consistent record of tutoring and university-level teaching alongside ongoing postgraduate study. I seek roles where I can apply rigorous statistical methods to financial and time-series problems while mentoring others.
