Joana Vaz

I’m a backend developer with experience developing and maintaining backend services using Java and Spring Boot. I work with REST APIs and SQL-based databases, building the kind of reliable foundations that make applications easier to extend and maintain.

In my current role, I focus on development and maintenance of backend services using Java and Spring Boot, including implementation and consumption of REST APIs. I also collaborate in Agile/Scrum environments—contributing to development, testing, and code reviews to keep quality high and delivery consistent.

I’m comfortable working with SQL databases, including SingleStore, and I’ve built a broader toolset around the service lifecycle. That includes familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tools, as well as working effectively in collaborative team setups.

I enjoy continuous learning and I’m motivated by contributing to reliable and maintainable systems. Alongside my professional experience, I’ve strengthened my software fundamentals through a Software Engineering Bachelor’s and I’m currently pursuing a Master’s in Artificial Intelligence Engineering, including Python-based academic projects.
