At Addis Ababa University, I serve as an Associate Professor in Process Engineering and an investigator and Ethiopian promoter on research projects including CARES, ECOHUE, and COFIMAT. My work connects bioprocessing, agricultural value chains, and sustainability.
Through CARES, I contribute to circular-economy biorefinery concepts for agricultural value chains and smallholder livelihoods in Ethiopia’s coffee-growing regions. ECOHUE focuses on coffee cascara valorization for natural hair dye production, while COFIMAT explores composites from coffee husk and spent coffee.
My research has also examined cellulase production and applications, effluent treatment, and the valorization of biomass. I have published research on topics including biofuels, adsorption, and sustainable materials.
I teach chemical engineering courses and advise M.Sc. and Ph.D. students. My academic work has included teaching, research supervision, project investigation, and process engineering leadership at Addis Ababa University and Sathyabama University.
