Iván Mauricio Ortega Ortiz

I’m a Data Engineer with hands-on experience designing, modernizing and governing cloud data platforms across GCP, AWS and Azure ecosystems. I focus on ETL/ELT pipelines, BigQuery optimization, FinOps dashboards, data quality automation, lineage, and dbt modeling.

As an Associate in IT/Cloud Consulting at Kyndryl Mexico, I’ve helped teams control costs and improve reliability by building BigQuery diagnostics across enterprise projects. I designed governance artifacts (access matrix, required labels, naming and ownership fields) and created automated validators to detect unused assets and housekeeping gaps.

I also map As-Is lineage across ETL/ELT tools, Dataform, Airflow, BigQuery and Power BI, then translate dependencies into To-Be lineage and semantic-layer patterns for safer change management. Alongside that, I defined a BigQuery financial dashboard concept to monitor spend by project, user, job and statement type and prioritize savings actions.

Earlier, I supported a JD Edwards Oracle to GCP lakehouse migration using Cloud Storage, Data Fusion JDBC ingestion, Dataflow and Cloud Composer/Airflow, stabilizing ingestion windows and improving traceability. I’ve also developed AWS-based pipelines (Bronze/Silver/Gold) with S3, Glue and Athena, implementing cleansing, versioning, validation checks, and clear operational documentation.
