In my most recent role as an import broker at UPS (East Midlands Airport), I classified goods using the tariff coding system and examined product information to ensure regulatory compliance. I prepared and processed import and export documentation in line with customs regulations and procedures, including preferential or nonreferential trade, incoterms, waivers, and special procedures like IPR, OPR, and Warehouse Returns.

I also managed the practical side of shipments—requesting and compiling key documents (customs invoices, certificates of origin, cargo-control documents) and arranging payment of taxes and duties on shipments. I cleared goods through customs to their destinations for clients, and I handled CDS/CHIFF compliance while troubleshooting error codes caused by data discrepancies (like incoterms, freight value, deferment account, EORI, quantities, and tariff identification).
