Hannah Thetford

I’m an elementary/middle school educator with a Mathematics major who graduated Summa Cum Laude and earned awards including “Student Teaching Award: Outstanding Elementary Education” and “School of Education Director’s Special Merit Award.” I bring a standards-based approach to teaching with a strong commitment to student growth.

In my current role, I deliver engaging, standards-based math instruction to 7 grade and Algebra 1 students, differentiating lessons to support language development and content understanding for diverse learners, including multilingual (ML) students. I co-plan and co-instruct with my co-teacher to ensure equitable access to content, and I use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress.

During student teaching, I prepared and delivered 7th grade Mathematics lessons to 80+ students of varying abilities while building a classroom community focused on respect, kindness, and mathematical confidence. I also developed as a Building Substitute across grades 6th–8th, helping students keep learning in the absence of teachers, while strengthening relationships with students and staff.
