Halie Wasson

I am a dedicated Social Work student with over two years of experience in domestic violence advocacy and trauma-informed care. My journey has been fueled by a passion for supporting vulnerable populations and delivering impactful educational initiatives. I have completed 400 practicum hours focused on sexual violence awareness and prevention, which has equipped me with the skills necessary to make a difference in my community.

Currently, I am a practicum student at Southern Utah University, where I create and deliver classroom presentations on sexual assault awareness on college campuses. Collaborating with various campus departments, I ensure that my presentations are accurate, trauma-informed, and inclusive. My role involves engaging with students and faculty to raise awareness and promote access to essential support resources.

In addition to my academic pursuits, I work as a Shelter Advocate at Canyon Creek Services, providing crisis support and safety planning for survivors of domestic violence. I maintain a trauma-informed, empathetic approach while assisting individuals in shelter, ensuring compliance with confidentiality and safety policies. My commitment to advocacy and education drives my desire to create a safer environment for all.
