Gergely Ivanics
@gergelyivanics
I’m a senior software engineer specializing in backend, distributed systems, and resilient payments.
What I'm looking for
I’m a Senior Software Engineer focused on building scalable, resilient backend systems—especially high-throughput payment platforms. At Warner Bros. Discovery, I designed and delivered end-to-end payment flows integrating multiple PSPs, implemented multiple payment methods, and optimized transaction processing for reliability and high success rates.
I also led customer retention improvements by introducing a grace period mechanism, reducing churn and improving payment recovery flows. I optimized payment tokenization and vaulting to increase authorization rates, reduce operational costs, and streamline fraud handling, while implementing observability solutions (metrics, dashboards, alerting) to improve system visibility and reduce incident response time.
Previously, I developed cloud-native microservices on AWS for a Learning Management System (LMS) at Instructure Hungary using Java and Ruby. I defined and refined requirements with stakeholders through feedback and feature demos, built and maintained CI/CD pipelines in Jenkins, and mentored junior engineers to improve code quality and onboarding.
Earlier in my career, I delivered a distributed e-ticketing platform for public transport operators using interoperable fare systems and centralized revenue management. I improved database scalability and performance across Oracle and MongoDB, built an invoice reporting interface supporting asynchronous processing and compliant submission to tax authorities, and supported reliable integration through API contracts (OpenAPI, XSD)—all while diagnosing and resolving critical production issues.
