Georgios Karvounis

I lead the Department of Monitoring and Protection of Water Resources at the Attica Waters Directorate, implementing drainage-basin and flood-risk management plans, water-use licensing, liquid-waste controls, and groundwater remediation.

Previously, I directed Intergeo Environmental Technology’s Athens office, leading a 10-person team and managing contaminated-land, groundwater, coastal remediation, environmental due diligence, and waste-management projects for petrochemical, chemical, industrial, and private-sector clients. My work has included Phase I and II investigations, remediation design and cost estimation, environmental monitoring, and clean-up projects near major refineries in Southern Greece.

I also bring research and teaching experience from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, where I taught Environmental Geochemistry and supported geochemistry laboratory work. My PhD focused on chemical cleanup and remediation of heavy-metal-polluted soils.
