I am a Senior Software Engineer with over 10 years of experience. I excel in rapidly prototyping and performing exploratory research, always eager to experiment with new technology while maintaining a pragmatic approach that prioritizes what is best for the company. Throughout my career, I have demonstrated the ability to quickly adapt to changes and get up to speed efficiently. For the past 4 years, I have successfully worked in a remote asynchronous capacity, leveraging over-communication and video recordings to minimize back-and-forth and misunderstandings.

Currently, I am working as a Senior Software Engineer at Distru Corp. In this role, I am the lead engineer on the cultivation project, which is a key component of Distru's ERP system for the cannabis industry. I was chosen for this role due to my product/customer mindset and my ability to quickly absorb the complexities of the application. I have been actively involved in meeting with customers on-site to understand their needs and develop the minimum viable product (MVP). Additionally, I have implemented various integrations, including a mobile app for fast weighing of plants and a 2-way sync of a 3rd-party compliance software that affects almost every part of our app. Despite the challenges of working across timezones, I have successfully collaborated with engineers in Europe, the US, and Canada, utilizing effective communication methods such as Loom screen recordings to convey complex ideas asynchronously. I have also played a key role in reducing costly back-and-forth through iterative improvements in communication.

Prior to my current role, I worked at Lendesk Technologies Ltd. as a Senior Developer for 7 years. During my time there, I led the majority of the development efforts, driving rapid iterations and leading rewrites and data migrations. I became the go-to person for various aspects of the loan management software, leveraging my deep understanding of the loan industry. I also took the initiative to lead the migration to AWS, resulting in significant cost savings and improved scalability. One of my notable achievements was designing and implementing the search and stats system using Elasticsearch and Elixir. I also led a team in developing the product qualification feature, an expert system that matches borrowers to loan products. Throughout my tenure, I actively contributed to discussions in various tech chapters and played a pivotal role in transitioning the company to a remote-first model.
