Gaia Burgio
@gaiaburgio
Researcher specializing in natural products and drug discovery.
What I'm looking for
I am a dedicated researcher with a Ph.D. focused on the endophytic bioactive secondary metabolites derived from coastal environments. My extensive experience encompasses the chemistry of natural products, drug discovery, metabolomics, and structure elucidation. I excel in analytical techniques including chromatography, spectroscopy, and mass spectrometry, and I am passionate about science communication, having served as a tutor, demonstrator, writer, and editor.
Currently, I work as a Research Associate at the Cronin Group in Glasgow, where I lead method development for exploring the chemical space of complex mixtures from natural samples. My role involves LC-MS and LC-MS/MS analysis, database building, and data visualization using Python. I take pride in presenting and disseminating my research findings, aiming to inspire others in the field of chemistry.
Throughout my academic journey, I have developed strong skills in both analytical chemistry and science communication. I have participated in numerous conferences and symposia, sharing my research with peers and professionals. I am committed to advancing my career in research while contributing to the scientific community through effective communication and collaboration.
