Farai Charuma

I am a dedicated GIS Scientist with over two years of hands-on experience in spatial data analysis, mapping and geospatial data management. I hold a BSc Honours in Geographical Information Science and Earth Observation from the University of Zimbabwe (2.1).

In my current role as a GIS Analyst at PB-Geospatial Technologies Consultancy, I collect RTK GPS field data, build and maintain geospatial databases, and produce maps and visual reports to support urban planning and environmental projects. I have improved data accuracy and developed land use plans for multiple local authorities.

My career includes work as a research assistant coordinating focus groups and mapping flood- and landslide-affected areas post-Cyclone Idai, and an internship at the Zimbabwe National Geospatial and Space Agency contributing to the National Wetlands Master Plan. I am experienced with ArcGIS, QGIS, ILWIS, remote sensing, GPS fieldwork, and spatial SQL/PostgreSQL.

I am collaborative, detail-oriented, and committed to applying geospatial technologies to solve complex problems, mentor interns, and deliver actionable insights that support decision-making and disaster risk reduction.
