Erick Lessing

I am an experienced full stack developer, capable of integrating with any tech stack and learning as I solve problems. I started as a Java engineer, working in an enterprise setting with many teams in a micro-service architected project. After 2 years as a Java developer, I took some time off to backpack around the middle east before joining a start up back in South Africa. There I worked with Ruby on Rails, React and React Native on a ride-sharing / e-hailing application that optimised trips for corporate employees to and from work. After 8 months, my father approached me with an entrepreneurial opportunity to launch and run a guesthouse and restaurant. I was interested in the challenge and successfully opened the business and managed it until I could find a replacement to take over the day to day so that I can get back to my software career. I moved to Cape Town and joined an e-commerce marketing agency, where I worked with Next.js, Remix.js, Typescript and React Native on well known local brand’s ecommerce websites and mobile applications such as Under Armour, Vans and Crocs. I was also part of a pioneering team that launched an AI language learning application called Uwaizy for which I am now the lead of. I am looking for my next challenge to learn and grow as a software engineer and build exciting visions into reality to solve complex problems.
