At Blue Shield of California, I built and presented custom medical utilization analyses for large employer clients, examining demographics, medical claim risk, and cost trends.
I automated the creation of medical utilization presentations with VBA, exporting KPIs, figures, and tables from Excel into a PowerPoint template. This replaced manual copy-and-paste work and reduced creation time by 10 or more work hours per presentation, depending on client size and complexity.
I developed Tableau dashboards so customers could retrieve reports through self-service instead of submitting tickets for manual report creation and distribution. I also created and maintained SAS programs that automated monthly batches of reports on clients’ high-cost medical claimants.
I use programming and business intelligence tools to analyze data from warehouses and prepare ad hoc analyses for customer needs, including medical plan design and provider network adjustments. I hold an MS in Biomedical Informatics from Arizona State University, where my focus was biostatistics and my thesis was on creating a model to identify bladder cancer.
