What I'm looking for

I’m looking for a senior or lead backend role where I own meaningful product work, from design to production. I enjoy complex Java/Spring Boot systems: distributed services, API design, data consistency. I value solid engineering practices, good testing, clear communication, and room to grow toward technical leadership. Open to remote or hybrid roles across European time zones.

I’m a senior Java backend engineer with 13+ years of experience building production systems, from enterprise Java EE applications to modern Spring Boot microservices. I enjoy owning features end to end, from API design through business logic and persistence to testing and deployment.

Most recently, I was technical lead on a distributed access-control platform, which I helped start as one of two founding engineers and led from inception to MVP as the team grew to five. I architected six independently deployable Spring Boot services on PostgreSQL, implemented the Outbox Pattern for reliable event publishing between services, designed OAuth2/JWT-secured REST APIs for web, mobile, and embedded clients, and set up the testing strategy (unit, integration, and contract tests) along with GitLab CI/CD and Docker deployments.

Before that, I held full architectural responsibility for a production ERP-like platform, driving its migration from a distributed monolith toward microservices. I’ve also worked in fintech at FIS on a large cleared-derivatives platform (300+ engineers) and at FactSet on financial market data software, and earlier on Spring and Kubernetes projects for clients in Germany and France.

I’m most interested in backend architecture and distributed systems: service boundaries, data consistency, API design, and the trade-offs behind them. I also care about mentoring and helping teams ship steadily without sacrificing quality. Outside my core stack, I’m currently expanding my skills with Python.

I’m based in Belgrade, Serbia (CET) and looking for senior or lead backend engineering roles, remote or hybrid, with teams that value ownership and good engineering practices.
