David Tompkins

As a passionate chemistry instructor and founder of CHEMGUIDES, I have dedicated over 15,000 hours to teaching undergraduate and post-baccalaureate students. My journey began with a dual Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Biology from UNC Chapel Hill, where I graduated with honors and a strong GPA. I have a deep understanding of various chemistry disciplines, including organic, analytical, and biochemistry, which I have effectively communicated through my tutoring services.

At CHEMGUIDES, I have developed over 400 instructional videos and 5,000 practice exercises, catering to diverse learning needs. My experience extends to organizing standardized test prep services for MCAT, DAT, and PCAT, ensuring students are well-prepared for their exams. Additionally, I have trained and managed aspiring private tutors, fostering a collaborative learning environment that emphasizes student success.

Previously, I served as instructional staff at Duke University, where I taught organic chemistry to approximately 500 undergraduates. My teaching philosophy revolves around creating interactive and engaging learning experiences, utilizing techniques such as the flipped classroom model to enhance critical thinking and problem-solving skills among students.
