Darren Cox

I have 30 years of experience in the film and TV industry, working firstly as a sound editor and then latterly as a video editor. I started as a junior and ended up running my own post-production facility based in Manchester, delivering work for clients including BBC, Channel 5, and major production companies.

My work includes award recognition—my animated series Foxbusters’ was awarded a BAFTA in 2005. I also ran my own video production company (from 2010 - 2016), specialising in promotional videos for businesses and devising video marketing strategies that helped clients use video effectively, including on social media, AR, and personalised video content.

More recently, I’ve been working as an Audio & Data Annotation Specialist (Freelance), delivering high-quality audio-visual annotation across large-scale datasets. I produce detailed natural language descriptions, handle multi-speaker analysis (including overlapping dialogue), and accurately annotate paralinguistic features while applying structured guidelines to maintain consistency and reviewer-ready quality.

I’m comfortable working to deadlines and I can work on my own or as part of a team. I use tools including Adobe Premiere, Adobe Effects, Final Cut Pro, Pro Tools, and AVID Audio Vision, and I also bring project management and staff management experience from running a company with 14 members of staff.
