Senior backend engineer shipping production systems since 2012. I spent a decade building fault-tolerant Erlang backends: distributed real-time bidding on AWS at more than 1 million requests per second, an end-to-end Kafka/Avro pipeline rewrite, and secure communications for US hospitals with an audit system covering billions of messages. At Absorb Software I designed, deployed, and continue to develop a production agentic RAG assistant in Python with LangGraph, tool use, guardrails, and an eval suite. I've worked remotely with distributed teams since 2014 and I'm comfortable taking over under-documented codebases. Based in Parksville, BC, Canada; remote only.

Current
Designed, deployed, and continue to develop a production agentic RAG assistant (Python, LangGraph, OpenSearch) with tool use, guardrails, and eval/live-testing suites. Deployed on AWS Fargate with Terraform, Docker, and GitLab CI/CD.
Built distributed, low-latency OpenRTB services on AWS scaled to more than 1M requests/sec. Rewrote the publisher-identity pipeline (JSON to Avro on Kafka) and built a safe live-system tracing tool.
Built secure Erlang communication services for doctors and nurses in US hospitals. Rewrote the audit system recording billions of calls, texts, and alarms; worked with PostgreSQL, Neo4j, and an S3/Redshift warehouse.
