I lead the Tuberculosis and Respiratory Infections Research Unit at Instituto de Medicina Tropical Alexander von Humboldt, Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia. My work spans tuberculosis, respiratory infections, diagnostics, and implementation research in Peru and internationally.
I've served as Associate Research Director at the University of Texas Medical Branch and hold academic appointments with Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia, the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, the University of Pennsylvania, and Johns Hopkins. I have led and contributed to NIH, CDC, CIHR, FIND, WHO/TDR, Wellcome Trust, and other studies focused on TB, COVID-19, diabetes, and infectious-disease diagnostics.
I bring clinical, epidemiological, and global health perspectives to research that improves testing, treatment, and care in resource-constrained settings.
