I’m a Software Engineer with six years of experience in IT, including four years in Java backend development, testing and application support.

I’ve always been curious about how things work and why. I naturally take things apart in my mind to understand how the pieces fit together. When a problem arises, that understanding helps me see where to intervene and find a practical solution. Sometimes, reconsidering the problem itself changes the solution it calls for.

That curiosity probably led me to study engineering, and I believe my experience across different fields has helped me develop my problem-solving skills.

That mindset shapes how I approach software engineering: understand before implementing. I look at how a system behaves and how its parts interact, clarify requirements and their purpose, and consider the relevant assumptions and constraints. I use that understanding to guide implementation, aiming to build solutions that meet the requirements while keeping complexity in proportion to the problem.

I’m particularly drawn to business logic, system behaviour, data flows and investigating unexpected results. I enjoy tracing problems to their causes, improving existing code and using testing to challenge assumptions and build confidence in a solution.

I bring attention to detail, particularly when it comes to consistency and how a change affects the rest of a system. I also take a collaborative approach, valuing the exchange of ideas, making my reasoning clear and adapting decisions as new information emerges.

The same curiosity drives me to keep learning. I enjoy getting to grips with unfamiliar concepts and building on what I already know, both through hands-on work and learning from others. Java is my strongest technical foundation, and I’m keen to explore beyond it in a field with so much to discover and where there is always something new to learn.

I’m looking for opportunities focused on backend systems, software quality and analytical problem-solving, where I can contribute my experience.
