Carmen Al Youssef
@carmenalyoussef
I lead translational skin biology research from mechanisms to clinical validation.
What I'm looking for
I'm completing a PhD at Institut Cochin's Skin Biology Laboratory, where I investigate the pathophysiological mechanisms of hidradenitis suppurativa through molecular biology, clinical science, big data analysis, and applied research.
I've developed and optimized tissue dissociation, primary cell culture, and functional-assay protocols, while collaborating with EN CARTA Diagnostics on a non-invasive biopsy tool and Nordic Bioscience on blood biomarker validation. My work on non-UV-induced cutaneous squamous cell carcinomas was published as a first-author article in the Journal of Pathology and selected as the December cover image.
I also teach experimental biology, biochemistry, and developmental biology at Université Paris Cité, and I supervise student research internships. I bring collaborative project management experience through doctoral-school representation, scientific event organization, grant selection committees, and science outreach.
I'm motivated by translational research that connects rigorous biology with practical tools and improved patient care.
