What I'm looking for

I’m looking for a role where I can grow field-based wildlife and ecology research—using camera trapping, telemetry, and GIS—to answer population ecology, habitat selection, and disease ecology questions with a collaborative, mission-driven team.

I’m a wildlife research technician driven by research and interested in population ecology, habitat selection, disease ecology, and animal behavior. I bring hands-on field experience and a strong team mindset, with a proven ability to work independently and under pressure.

Across multiple roles, I’ve led and supported wildlife projects using camera trapping, telemetry, capture and handling, and chemical immobilization. I also use modern tools and workflows—GPS/OnX navigation, GIS mapping, Survey123, Timelapse, and R Studio—to collect, manage, and analyze ecological data.

I’ve strengthened my research through an undergraduate thesis on camera trap image quality and classification accuracy, plus independent nilgai antelope work where I led technicians through capture, collaring, measurement, and safe release. I also value mentorship, having taught and led field trips while helping students develop real research skills.

Experience

Work history, roles, and key accomplishments

SU

Mesocarnivore Field Technician

Southern Illinois University

Nov 2022 - Apr 2023 (5 months)

Conducted a mesocarnivore population comparison project versus prior decade baselines by setting up and maintaining camera traps across remote sites. Managed field scheduling, landowner coordination, and classified images for downstream analysis using photo workflows.

TQ

Quail Research Technician

Texas Tech Quail

Aug 2021 - Nov 2021 (3 months)

Supported research on how different bobwhite feeding protocols affect populations by running day-to-day field operations. Trapped bobwhite quail, attached VHF/GPS transmitters, collected telemetry location data, and shared observations with the PI.

UD

Forest Ecology Teaching Assistant

University of Notre Dame

May 2021 - Jul 2021 (2 months)

Independently led daily field trips on the Michigan–Wisconsin border and supported undergraduate research training. Developed and delivered field discussions and instruction, graded field quizzes, and taught lab/field skills including compass use and research project development.

UM

Camera Trap Technician

University of Missouri

Jan 2021 - Apr 2021 (3 months)

Collected camera-trap and habitat survey data to assess population and habitat selection changes over the 21st century. Managed GPS/OnX navigation, camera setup and baiting, SD card swaps, and vegetation/habitat surveys while maintaining scheduled sampling intervals.

TU

Research Associate (Nilgai)

Texas A&M University–Kingsville

Aug 2019 - Dec 2020 (1 year 4 months)

Conducted an independent nilgai antelope research project and led technicians through capture and handling while measuring morphological and physiological characteristics. Presented findings at two conferences and supported camera-trap, telemetry/collaring, and nematode-sprayer work, including sensor troubleshooting and sensor updates.

UM

Songbird Abundance Field Tech

University of Montana

May 2017 - Jul 2017 (2 months)

Supported research on how bison grazing influences sagebrush-obligate songbirds in Yellowstone National Park by collecting abundance and habitat-related field data. Conducted abundance surveys, plant and grazer scat surveys, and entered observations into the Access database while using GPS/GIS tools for route monitoring.

UM

Chemistry Lab Technician

University of Montana

Jan 2014 - May 2016 (2 years 4 months)

Provided undergraduate lab support by assembling lab instruments and preparing supplies for classes. Helped with glassware questions and distributed chemicals for experiments under course procedures.

University of Montana logoUM

University of Montana

Bachelor of Science, Wildlife Biology

2013 - 2016

Grade: GPA 3.13

Activities and societies: Undergraduate thesis: "Effects of Image Quality on Identification and Count of Animals in Classifying Camera Trap Photos."

Completed a B.S. in Wildlife Biology at the University of Montana (2013–2016). Undergraduate thesis examined how image quality and rater experience affect animal identification and count error rates from camera-trap photos.
