Asif Wadud
@asifwadud
Senior C++/Linux engineer crafting low-latency, multithreaded systems for automotive, AI, and financial platforms.
What I'm looking for
I’m a Senior Software Engineer with 14+ years designing and developing high-performance C++ applications for automotive, AI, and financial systems on Linux platforms. I lean on strong software architecture, data structures and algorithms, and object-oriented design, and I’m deeply comfortable building thread-safe, low-latency systems with modern C++ concurrency. I’ve also contributed patented expertise in NLU systems, real-time audio processing, and Android platform development (AOSP, HAL).
In recent roles, I designed and implemented an AIDL Audio HAL using C++17, AOSP, and Soong, and I configured SELinux policies to secure inter-process communication. At SoundHound AI, I built C++ for voice and text query interpretation, helped invent a patented technique for concurrent speech processing and full-duplex interaction, and owned end-to-end delivery while mentoring junior engineers. Across my career, I’ve used Agile/Scrum delivery, TDD, CI/CD workflows, and performance profiling to drive quality and continuous improvement.
Experience
Work history, roles, and key accomplishments
Designed and implemented an AIDL Audio HAL for General Motors Software Defined Vehicles using C++17, AOSP, and Soong. Built secure, low-latency networking components for audio data transfer between services.
Developed C++ components for voice and text query interpretation using SoundHound’s internal NLU framework and contributed to a patented concurrent speech processing technique. Owned end-to-end delivery and supported CI/CD and TDD practices while mentoring junior engineers.
Provided L3 support for securities reference data on Sybase, including developing data loaders and quality monitoring tools. Developed and maintained code in C++, Java, and Perl on Linux using Autosys, VCS, and IBM MQ.
Developed and maintained system software for embedded management of Solace messaging appliances. Refactored and extended a large codebase to add features while maintaining strict latency and throughput performance.
Built log parsing scripts in Perl and developed an Eclipse plugin to help internal developers launch and debug subsystems.
