At Teesside University, I investigated quercetin’s effects on oxidative stress in EA.hy926 cells for my MSc research project. I used mammalian cell culture and a fluorescence-based assay, then recorded, analysed and statistically evaluated the experimental data.

My laboratory practical experience includes ELISA, PCR-based analysis and protein quantification. I’ve also prepared samples and followed laboratory protocols, quality control procedures and health and safety requirements.

For my BSc research project, I examined whether UV sterilisation boxes reduced bacterial contamination on mobile phones. I compared surfaces and evaluated UV-C light against 70% ethanol using time as a variable.

In my current Bank Care Assistant role at Barchester, I follow workplace procedures and support residents as part of a multidisciplinary care team. I’m interested in applying my scientific knowledge in biopharmaceutical development and developing my laboratory skills in an industry environment.
