Anestis Kaimakamidis
@anestiskaimakamidis
AI/ML research and engineering student turning multimodal models into real-world systems.
What I'm looking for
I’m a Candidate for a Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence at Northeastern University, and I also serve as a Teaching Assistant for Algorithms (CS5800). I enjoy translating complex ideas into clear explanations, whether through office hours, grading, or one-on-one tutoring.
In the AIIA Lab in Thessaloniki, I worked as a Research Assistant and first authored 4 peer-reviewed papers while co-authoring 3 more across Visual Transformers, Continual learning, Knowledge Distillation, NLP, Sentiment Analysis, and timeseries forecasting. I also contributed to EU Horizon-funded projects (AI4Media, AI4Europe, TEMA), building systems like the Political Barometer for tweet mining, transformer-based sentiment analysis, and daily party-vote estimation.
On the engineering side, I build end-to-end AI products: an AI-powered trading intelligence platform that combines reinforcement-learning ensembles with a multi-agent LLM layer over a RAG retrieval system, and a Retinal AI medical recommendation system using computer vision plus explainable heatmaps. I’m motivated by shipping reliable pipelines—spanning Python/FastAPI backends, multi-GPU model training, and cloud/MLOps practices.
