After thirty-plus years in Software Development and Systems I have gained expertise in several Business areas such as Payments/EFT/POS/ABM and Health Benefit Adjudication. Additionally business areas: Police Intelligence, Bond Brokerage Management, Vehicle Fleet Management, and Mortgage processing.

Most recently technical expertise has been Linux using C(C++) and Relational Databases under AWS (primarily Oracle – Pro*C, OCI, PL/SQL and OGG). Before that there were most versions of Unix.

I have experience with Terminals such as ATM’s, retail terminals (McDonalds and Petro Canada/Suncor), specialty terminals, and supporting the transactions from them, including Health approvals, using ISO8583, CPHA, HL7 and Custom protocols.

My largest Middleware/Infrastructure concentration has been with Oasis’ IST Switch/Foundation (FIS) installations having worked on contract for Oasis for 6.5 years for their clients, and clients of clients, such as:

Orbiscom: MBNA (Dallas); AIB (Ireland); HFC (UK); CitiBank (US); Discover; Cahoot (UK); Carte Bleue (France)

Europay (Belgium); Amex (SLC Utah); VISA International (San Mateo, San Fransisco); MasterCard (St. Louis);

Diners Club (UK); Citibank (New York, Latin America, Japan, India, Singapore); Bank of Bermuda/Feds; IBM (New Orleans); OBE (UK)

This was then followed with 14 more years of Oasis clients (Transworld, JNCB, Petro Canada) and another two years of similar projects with different technical architectures (PSP as SME in a Java framework, Ecomcards as a BSA/developer in an independent Linux/Oracle framework).

I have experience with ABM configuration and host-support (JNCB, PSP) as well as most aspects of Payment Transaction switching including cryptographic HSM’s” Atalla (BMO at TDSi, and Petro Canada/Suncor) and Racal (Bell NSG, Transworld) and Encryption Key management (most recently with Petro Canada/Suncor).

On several projects I have spearheaded optimizing the application/DBMS interfaces, techniques with an emphasis on TPS and creating/using simulators to test the various systems.

I have been received well by my clients and have done well by them. On one occasion the President of Oasis said to me “Andrew, I don’t know how you do it but you always find a way to get it done!”

I have been a Senior Consultant in most of my roles since 1995, and had the title of E-VP at PSP. However my actual roles, assumed because of client needs, have been: Troubleshooter; SME; Senior Business Systems Analyst; Team Lead; Technical Lead; Project Lead; Project Analyst; Project Manager; Senior Systems Analyst; etc. Note however that these roles never distanced me from my technical core and I continued to implement code for my clients.
