@alyssavanriper
I am an early childhood and special education teacher specializing in multisensory literacy.
I am a certified early childhood educator and Orton-Gillingham-trained reading specialist with experience teaching preschool through second grade. I bring hands-on multisensory approaches to literacy and math to support diverse learners.
Since completing my B.A. in Education and Psychology, I have taught second grade and early childhood in both public and independent schools, and served as a long-term substitute and tutor. I deliver differentiated core instruction, small-group interventions, and daily routines that build foundational skills. My classroom practice emphasizes manipulatives, fine motor development, and student engagement.
I have developed and implemented curriculum and vocational training programs for students with special needs and coordinated community partnerships to create real-world placement opportunities. As a mentor and job coach, I support colleagues and lead trainings to strengthen fieldwork and instructional skills.
I am seeking a collaborative school or program where I can apply Orton-Gillingham methods, advance literacy outcomes, and continue professional growth.
