Alan Nigena
@alannigena
I analyze public health and community safety data to advance prevention, equity, and evidence-based programs.
What I'm looking for
At Loyola Marymount University's Psychology Applied Research Center, I analyze mixed-methods data for the Trauma Prevention Partnership and Los Angeles' Gang Reduction and Youth Development projects.
I build STATA and R syntax for complex datasets, examine economic and LAPD crime data for neighborhood vitality trends, and create ArcGIS visualizations for interim and final reports. I also design data-collection instruments, manage qualitative and quantitative databases, maintain codebooks, and implement quality-control protocols.
Previously at NYU's Nurse Community Family Partnership Project, I interviewed and recruited families in Mott Haven for a randomized controlled trial, cleaned and coded responses in REDCap, and examined health equity, structural bias, and social determinants of wellbeing.
My earlier work with World Vision International and WaterAid International included hygiene, sanitation, and water-borne illness research in Rwanda. I'm motivated by research that translates community data into stronger public health programs and equitable outcomes.
