Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Yard Supervisor to oversee operations and ensure safety and efficiency in our yard management. In this role, you will coordinate daily activities, manage yard staff, and facilitate the effective movement of materials and equipment. Your leadership will directly contribute to maintaining a productive and safe work environment.
Responsibilities
- Direct daily yard operations, including the receipt, storage, and distribution of materials and equipment
- Supervise and train yard staff, promoting a culture of safety and accountability
- Implement and enforce safety protocols to minimize accidents and injuries
- Coordinate with logistics and operations teams to optimize workflow and ensure timely delivery of materials
- Monitor inventory levels and assist in inventory management processes
- Conduct regular inspections of yard equipment and facilities to ensure compliance with safety standards
- Prepare reports on yard activities, including productivity metrics and safety incidents
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 3+ years of experience in a supervisory role within a yard or warehouse environment
- Strong understanding of yard management practices and safety regulations
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate a team
- Proficiency in using yard management systems and inventory control software
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities
Preferred:
- Experience in logistics or supply chain management
- Forklift certification and experience operating heavy machinery
- Knowledge of Lean or Six Sigma methodologies to improve processes
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Familiarity with yard management software and warehouse management systems
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for reporting and communication
- Ability to analyze data to inform operational decisions and improvements
