Role Overview
We are seeking a distinguished academic and thought leader for the position of Endowed Chair in Wildlife Conservation. This role is instrumental in advancing our research agenda, enhancing our educational offerings, and shaping conservation strategies that influence policy and practice at local, national, and global levels. You will collaborate with a diverse team of scholars, practitioners, and students to drive innovative solutions to pressing wildlife conservation challenges.
Responsibilities
- Lead interdisciplinary research initiatives in wildlife conservation, focusing on innovative methodologies and impactful outcomes.
- Develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses that reflect the latest advancements in wildlife ecology, conservation science, and policy.
- Establish partnerships with governmental agencies, NGOs, and private sector stakeholders to promote collaborative conservation efforts.
- Secure funding through grants and donations to support research, outreach, and educational programs.
- Mentor and support faculty and students, fostering an inclusive academic environment that encourages diversity of thought and approach.
- Publish high-quality research in peer-reviewed journals and present findings at national and international conferences.
- Engage in public outreach and education to raise awareness of wildlife conservation issues and the role of science in addressing them.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- A Ph.D. in Wildlife Conservation, Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in academic research, teaching, and leadership in conservation biology or a closely related discipline.
- Proven track record of securing research funding and managing multi-disciplinary projects.
- Demonstrated expertise in wildlife management practices and conservation policy development.
Preferred:
- Experience working with international conservation programs and organizations.
- Strong publication record in high-impact scientific journals.
- Ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, including policymakers, community organizations, and the general public.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in statistical analysis and modeling software (e.g., R, Python, GIS).
- Experience with ecological field techniques, data collection, and analysis.
- Familiarity with conservation technologies, including remote sensing and wildlife telemetry.
