Role Overview
We are looking for a highly skilled Utility Arborist Supervisor to lead and manage our arborist team, ensuring the safe and efficient maintenance of trees and vegetation in utility corridors. In this vital role, you will oversee arboricultural operations, enforce safety protocols, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to support our commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable practices.
Responsibilities
- Supervise daily operations of the arborist team, ensuring adherence to industry best practices and safety protocols
- Conduct thorough assessments of tree health and growth, and develop maintenance plans that prioritize safety and ecological health
- Coordinate vegetation management strategies in alignment with utility requirements to mitigate risks to infrastructure
- Lead training sessions to enhance team skills in arboriculture, safety measures, and emergency response procedures
- Monitor and evaluate team performance, providing constructive feedback and fostering a culture of continuous improvement
- Maintain accurate records of tree maintenance activities, including service requests, assessments, and work completed
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 5+ years of experience in arboriculture, with a focus on utility vegetation management
- Certified Arborist status or equivalent certification
- Strong understanding of tree biology, tree risk assessment, and best practices for tree pruning and removal
- Experience in leading teams and managing projects in a safety-sensitive environment
Preferred:
- Knowledge of local and federal regulations governing vegetation management in utility corridors
- Experience with GIS tools and tree inventory management software
- First Aid and CPR certifications
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in tree assessment tools and techniques, including aerial lifts and climbing gear
- Familiarity with vegetation management software and mapping tools
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions
