Role Overview
We are looking for a passionate and motivated Junior Utility Arborist to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will assist in the management and maintenance of trees in utility corridors, ensuring safe and efficient operations while promoting best practices in tree care and environmental stewardship.
Responsibilities
- Assist in conducting tree assessments and health evaluations to identify potential risks and recommend appropriate treatments.
- Support the execution of tree pruning and removal operations in alignment with utility regulations and safety standards.
- Collaborate with senior arborists to develop and implement vegetation management plans.
- Utilize GIS and other technologies to map and track tree health and maintenance activities.
- Participate in community outreach and educational programs related to tree care and environmental sustainability.
- Maintain accurate records of tree work performed, including species identification, location, and treatment applied.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in Urban Forestry, Horticulture, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of arboriculture practices and tree biology.
- Strong willingness to learn and apply industry best practices in utility arboriculture.
- Ability to work effectively in both team settings and independently.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience or coursework in tree identification, pest management, or landscape management.
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations and safety practices in tree care operations.
- Certification from ISA (International Society of Arboriculture) or willingness to obtain.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in the use of GIS software and mapping tools.
- Familiarity with tree management software and data collection applications.
- Basic knowledge of power tools and equipment used in arboriculture.
