Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Tree Maintenance Supervisor to lead our team in the stewardship of urban and suburban vegetation, ensuring the health and safety of trees in our communities. This role is vital in managing and implementing tree care programs, overseeing maintenance operations, and enhancing the aesthetic and ecological value of green spaces.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily tree maintenance activities, including pruning, planting, and removal operations, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and industry best practices.
- Develop and execute tree management plans that prioritize the health, safety, and longevity of trees, addressing issues such as disease management and pest control.
- Lead a team of arborists and maintenance staff, providing training and guidance to foster skill development and ensure high-quality workmanship.
- Conduct regular inspections of trees, assessing their condition and identifying necessary interventions to mitigate risks and promote growth.
- Collaborate with local authorities, communities, and environmental organizations to promote tree care awareness and participate in community outreach programs.
- Maintain accurate records of tree maintenance activities, inventory, and expenses to support budgeting and resource allocation.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 5+ years of experience in arboriculture or a related field, with a proven track record in tree maintenance supervision.
- Certification as an Arborist from an accredited organization (e.g., ISA Certified Arborist).
- Strong knowledge of tree species, growth patterns, and care techniques, as well as relevant safety protocols and regulations.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and experience managing a team effectively.
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in Forestry, Horticulture, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Experience in urban forestry or landscape management.
- Familiarity with using tree maintenance equipment and tools, including chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in tree inventory management software and GIS applications.
- Ability to interpret and analyze tree health data, utilizing tools for diagnostics.
- Understanding of environmental regulations affecting tree care and maintenance.
