Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Arborist to join our dedicated team at [$COMPANY_NAME]. Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive tree assessments, including identifying diseases, pests, and structural weaknesses
- Develop and implement tree care plans, including pruning, planting, and removal strategies in compliance with local regulations
- Lead and oversee tree risk assessments and mitigation procedures to enhance public safety
- Collaborate with municipal and private stakeholders to develop urban forestry programs and policies
- Mentor junior arborists, providing guidance on best practices, safety protocols, and technical skills
- Stay current with industry trends, new technologies, and improvements in arboricultural practices
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Forestry, Horticulture, Environmental Science, or a related field
- 5+ years of professional arboricultural experience with a focus on urban forestry
- Certification as an Arborist from a recognized body (e.g., ISA or equivalent)
- Proven ability to lead teams and manage complex projects
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in a relevant field
- Experience in tree risk assessment and urban forestry management
- Knowledge of local environmental regulations and urban planning principles
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in tree identification, biology, and ecology
- Proficient in using arboricultural tools and technologies such as aerial lifts, chainsaws, and rigging equipment
- Familiarity with software for tree inventory management and GIS mapping
- Strong understanding of plant health care principles and integrated pest management
