Role Overview
We are looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented Lead Medical Clerk to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this role, you will be instrumental in overseeing the administrative functions of the medical office, ensuring that the clerical and operational tasks are executed efficiently and in compliance with healthcare regulations. You'll be responsible for leading a team of clerks while also interacting with healthcare professionals to facilitate high-quality patient care.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and mentor a team of medical clerks, providing guidance on best practices and fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Oversee the management of patient records, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Coordinate scheduling of patient appointments and follow-ups, optimizing clerical workflows to enhance patient satisfaction.
- Implement and maintain efficient office procedures, including managing correspondence, billing processes, and insurance verifications.
- Collaborate with medical staff to streamline operations and improve patient intake processes.
- Conduct regular training sessions for clerical staff on new software, policies, and compliance standards.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 3+ years of experience in a medical administrative role, with at least 1 year in a supervisory capacity.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, healthcare procedures, and insurance processes.
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills, with proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Preferred:
- Associates degree or higher in healthcare administration or a related field.
- Experience with practice management software and medical billing systems.
- CERTIFIED MEDICAL ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT (CMAA) certification is a plus.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and EHR systems.
- Experience with healthcare management software and billing systems.
- Familiarity with data entry and reporting tools to analyze clerical performance metrics.
