Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced and strategic Underwriting Manager to join our dynamic team. In this fully remote role, you will lead our underwriting operations, ensuring the assessment of risk for potential clients aligns with our company’s growth objectives and compliance standards. You will be instrumental in shaping underwriting policies and processes while fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the underwriting team, ensuring efficient workflows and adherence to established policies and procedures.
- Develop, implement, and refine underwriting guidelines to optimize risk assessment and decision-making processes.
- Analyze complex insurance applications and financial documentation to assess risk accurately.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales and risk management, to align underwriting practices with business objectives.
- Mentor and train underwriting staff, fostering professional development and a culture of continuous improvement.
- Utilize data analytics to identify trends and improve underwriting processes and risk evaluation techniques.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards within underwriting practices.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 5+ years of experience in underwriting, with at least 2 years in a managerial capacity.
- Strong understanding of underwriting principles, risk assessment, and insurance regulations.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing successful underwriting strategies.
- Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.
Preferred:
- Experience in specialty underwriting or in a niche insurance market.
- Relevant professional certifications such as Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) or Associate in Commercial Underwriting (ACU).
- Knowledge of underwriting software and technology platforms.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies

- Ability to leverage data visualization tools to communicate insights effectively.
