Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and impartial Traffic Court Referee to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will preside over traffic court proceedings, ensuring fair and equitable treatment of all parties involved. You will apply your legal expertise and critical thinking skills to adjudicate cases effectively, while also contributing to the continuous improvement of our court processes.
Responsibilities
- Conduct hearings for traffic violations, assessing evidence and hearing testimonies from defendants and witnesses.
- Apply relevant laws and regulations to make fair and informed decisions, providing clear and concise rulings.
- Draft legal documents, including rulings and opinions, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
- Maintain order and decorum in the courtroom, managing proceedings in a timely and efficient manner.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to stay abreast of changes in traffic law and court procedures.
- Collaborate with court staff and other stakeholders to improve court operations and enhance service delivery.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active state bar membership and a minimum of 3 years of legal experience, preferably in traffic law or related areas.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply legal principles in a courtroom setting.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail.
Preferred:
- Prior experience as a judge, hearing officer, or administrative law judge.
- Familiarity with traffic enforcement procedures and local regulations.
- Proven ability to manage complex cases and effectively communicate legal concepts to non-legal audiences.

- Strong knowledge of courtroom technology and remote hearing platforms.
